How bad is your fatigue? NMN helps you regain your energy.

According to a survey, 53% of office workers work more than 12 hours a day, or even up to 16 hours a day, leaving their bodies in a state of chronic overwork.

And at this point, scientists have found the perfect solution to this problem: Supplementation with NMN, the precursor of NAD+. so how does NMN do this?

Body's energy factory - Mitochondria

Our body gets its energy from the energy of our cells. And the energy of the cells is not possible without the work of the mitochondria.

The mitochondria are responsible for 95% of the energy required by cells. It synthesises adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which provides the cell with energy for life, and also regulates cell growth and apoptosis, hence its name as the "engine of life".

Therefore, if you feel energetic and full of energy throughout the day, it is because your mitochondria are working hard to generate energy.

Conversely, if mitochondrial function is impaired, this can lead to a lack of cellular energy and blocked cellular communication, leading to a variety of health problems and accelerated ageing.

NAD+ a key factor affecting mitochondrial function.

What factors contribute to mitochondrial dysfunction?

In a study published in 2015, it was noted that a contributing factor to mitochondrial abnormalities is the absence of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+).

In mitochondria-mediated energy production and cellular function, NAD+ is an important enzyme in the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the most important part of cellular respiration. Each cell in the body requires thousands of ATP and NAD+ helps the cell to obtain this energy it needs.

In 2012, a study led by Professor Shinichiro Imai at the University of Washington, USA, comprehensively investigated the "dynamic regulation of NAD+ metabolism in mitochondria" and confirmed the close relationship between NAD+ levels in mitochondria and mitochondrial function.

As we age, the level of NAD+ available in our bodies decreases considerably. In contrast, we feel less energy and strength than before.

NMN can significantly enhance mitochondrial function

As a direct precursor of NAD+, NMN has been shown in several studies to rapidly boost NAD+ levels in our bodies, which in turn enhances mitochondrial function.

The boosting effect of NMN on mitochondrial function was confirmed by scientific findings published in 2020 by a team of researchers led by the University of Minnesota.

The subject of this study is a type of cell that is extremely mitochondria-dependent - the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), which is responsible for maintaining human vision.

The energy used by these cells comes essentially exclusively from the mitochondria, so that when there is a problem with mitochondrial function (e.g. ageing), these cells die immediately, causing age-related macular degeneration.

The researchers found that NMN improved the overall mitochondrial function of the RPE and had a very rapid onset of action, reaching its peak within 24 hours of application. This improvement was achieved mainly by increasing the production of ATP.

This role of how NMN affects energy metabolism appears to be particularly important for healthy ageing. It appears that as we age, we become less efficient at converting food into energy. This can lead to weight gain and overall low energy levels. In theory, taking NMN supplements will help you to convert food into energy more efficiently. This should help improve overall vitality and may even help with weight loss!
